‘Tooling Up’ was on in the main foyer of the South Australian Museum from 20 August to 28 September 2007.

Inside SAM’s Place 2007 is a collaboration between Craftsouth: Centre for Contemporary Craft and Design and the South Australian Museum, commissioning South Australian artists to interpret our historical collections using the language of craft between April and September 2007.

After extensive consultation with SA Museum collection managers and research on a variety of indigenous tools from the museum’s collections, John has used the materials at hand in our environment to fashion hybrid tools. For example, discarded contemporary technologies reflect upon and draw parallels to past technologies exploring our changing relationship with the tool.
