Murray Bridge Regional Gallery South Australia - "Palimpsest Exhibition"
July 24 - August 31 2006.
Materials: Oil paint and sand on fibreglass.
The Murray Darling Palimpsest Charter is to promote discussion and debate around one of the country's most pressing environmental and social issues: the future of the Murray Darling Basin.
These bark canoes have Red Gum bark textures, echoing the traditional use of the tree for early river transport. Ironically the same tree was also used to power the old paddle steamers - just one of the reasons for it's demise today.
